Who we are
Twail represents two Mobile Apps (iOS/Android) that are developed by Victor Warno. Inside the app, you can submit so-called Sightings of a Taylor Swift artwork (songs, merchandise, etc.) to collect and share experiences with other Taylor Swift fans.
Sightings
A sighting consists of the object that was spotted as well as the time and place. Optionally, a user can add a comment. Sightings can be tracked on a map.
Public Sightings do not display your email address or username in order to prevent tracking a user by location.
Permissions
The app uses following permissions:
- android.permissions.INTERNET
- android.permissions.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION
- android.permissions.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION
Internet permission is required to query data from a remote database and open external links. Location permissions are required to enable map-based features like “My Location” in Map. This enables the user to find sightings in his or her proximity more easily. A permission request (system pop-up) appears the first time the user wants to use one of those features. And before the runtime permission check, a Disclosure will be shown.
Nevertheless, the user can use the map without allowing location permissions.
Personally identifiable information
You can use Twail without creating a profile minimizing use of personal information.
In order to create an profile you need an e-mail address which is stored in the backend. Users with profiles can login with a magic link, therefore making passwords obsolete.
Each profile is connected to a unique five character code – its Swift code. It is the main identifier in the app and can be used to make friend requests. It is not displayed on a publicly visible sighting except for befriended profiles.
Where is the data sent to
Any data submitted in the app is stored in a Supabase database. It is the backend to this app.
How long we retain your data
If you submit a sighting, the sightings and its metadata are retained indefinitely.
For users that register in the app, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their initial Swift code).
What rights you have over your data
If you create a profile in the app, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This includes profile data, submitted sightings and friend requests. You can achieve this either by deleting it via a DELETE button in the profile section of the app, or by sending a deletion request here.
